Annual Events in Downtown Alameda
Holiday Events in Downtown Alameda
Eat, Shop, & Be Merry in Downtown Alameda! From Shop Late Thursdays to this year's first Hot Cocoa Crawl, downtown merchants have plenty to offer for a festive holiday shopping experience.

Shop Late Thursdays
The shops in the district are joining our restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues in staying open until 8:00pm or later on Thursdays during the holiday season. Grab a bite to eat, catch a movie, or toast the holidays with co-workers and then get a little holiday shopping done afterwards!

Holiday Window Contest
Local artists are teaming up with downtown businesses to create festive holiday window displays. Bundle up the kids and take a stroll to enjoy the sights and sounds of the holiday season. Vote for your favorite window display!

Tree Lighting Ceremony & Hot Cocoa Crawl
Join Mayor Trish Spencer and Santa when they light the official island holiday tree on December 2 at City Hall. Enjoy live local holiday performances beginning at 4:30pm and meet the big guy himself. Afterwards, do the Hot Cocoa Crawl with your family and friends and vote on your favorite downtown holiday window display.

Santa Appearances
Santa has promised to make a number of visits to the district this holiday season. Look for him to be out and about (without his reindeer) on Shop Late Thursdays and other dates.

Park Free Saturdays
Parking meters will be free on Saturdays between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. In addition, look for free gift wrapping, pop-up stores, and other downtown treats.
