Local Artists at Second Friday ArtWalk

Encinal Art Galleries in AlamedaEnjoy an evening of art and fun conversation in Downtown Alameda at this week’s 2nd Friday ArtWalk. Take in some of the most exciting, beautiful, and challenging contemporary art from the Bay Area. It’s a totally free event with a little something for everyone.

Artist receptions abound on 2nd Fridays along with live music, DJ’s, jewelry demonstrations, art classes, and wine tastings. It’s a chance to get to know local artists and learn about their creative process. Activities typically take place from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and guests can go from venue to venue at their own pace.

Look for these special happenings on Friday, November 9:

The Local (1333 Park Street) Alameda Women Artists (AWA) is exhibiting at The Local from November 5 through December 27. The exhibit showcases the art of eight talented members who work in diverse mediums. Friday ArtWalk Hours: 6:00-9:00pm

3Dot Art Gallery (2309A Encinal Ave) Memento Mori Art Show Closing Reception — Memento mori means “remember death.” Celebrate life with art that reveals the beauty of death. Friday ArtWalk Hours: 7:00-11:00pm

Studio 23 (2309 Encinal Ave) Halloween Blacklight Art Show Closing — Last chance to view the Blacklight Art Show. Special installations and Mermaid Room! Friday ArtWalk Hours: 7:30-9:30pm

PHOENIX (2315 Lincoln Ave) The Mountain Beneath The Soul — Opening reception of large scale original painting by local painter, David Nyquist. The new show consists of paintings and poetry created through his practice of living an unhurried life for the wellbeing that accompanies a conscious “belonging” to the natural world. Friday ArtWalk Hours: 6:00-9:00pm

NoFu Skin Studio (2531 Clement Ave) American Requiem — American Requiem is a creative journey along the political landscape of Americanisms during the age of Donald Chump. The art is a visual melody of blues vibrating at the threshold of HipHop culture and Afrofuturism. Friday ArtWalk Hours: 6:00-9:00pm
